Welcome to our site and destination for all things hopeful and filled with light. I have loved studying the topics of light, the Second Coming, and Zion since I was a teenager. Now, I have the privilege of sharing my passion for these topics and studying the scriptures with my family and the high-school students I teach as a Seminary instructor. My first novel, Ambassadors of Light: The Chosen is book one in a trilogy that I hope will inspire a greater connection with the reader and their Savior Jesus Christ.

The idea for this book was born out of two topics of fascination for me: First, the Second Coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and second, spiritual gifts and how we can better tap into the power God makes available for us to be able to develop these gifts. 

When I was about eight years old I had a brief dream in which I saw the Savior return to the earth in the midst of chaos and destruction. As I’ve studied the Second Coming over the past three decades of my life, I’ve often thought about that dream and whether it was given to me as a gift from God or if it was just a result of my own imagination. I’d like to think it was the former because there have been other times in my life (like Deborah’s character in the book), when I was given the gift of dreams that prophesied of future events in my life. 

I love knowing that we each have been blessed with at least one powerful spiritual gift that we were given in order to fulfill our unique missions on earth. In his talk given during the General Women’s Session of the October 2018 General Conference, President Nelson said the following: 

“I urge you, with all the hope of my heart, to pray to understand your spiritual gifts—to cultivate, use, and expand them, even more than you ever have. You will change the world as you do so.”

His words embedded themselves in my heart and mind in a way that motivated me to do exactly as he outlined. I can remember one night in particular when, through almost uncontrollable tears, I pleaded with Heavenly Father to better understand my spiritual gifts and to know how to develop and use those gifts to help prepare the world for the Savior’s Second Coming. By the end of that interchange, I was spent, both physically and emotionally. Feeling confident in recognizing and using my gifts has never been a strength of mine, so that night I asked for the power to overcome the self-doubt that had plagued me for my whole life to that point. 

For the past five years, I have been on a road of self-discovery that has been equal parts enlightening and terrifying. I’ve found my soul being stretched and refined beyond anything I imagined on that night when I turned everything over to God and told Him to use me in whatever way He needed for me to fulfill my mission on earth. 

My goal with this “Ambassadors of Light” series is to help motivate others to seek out and develop their personal gifts in ways they never thought possible so we can be the people the Savior needs us to be before He returns again. This book isn’t a prediction of how the events prior to His final return will play out, although, I have incorporated both ancient and modern prophecies into this fictional account in a way I hope will inspire each reader to want to be an “Ambassador of Light”, and be a Zion-ready people.
